User Permissions
The user permissions in TMS are based on 5 levels of access (Customer, Sales, Operations,
Accounting, Admin). Each level of access (except customer and admin) can also be applied the
role of Manager. Following is a summary of the rights allowed each access level. The levels are
listed in order from the least access to the most access.
Customer
This level should be set for all customers. This will lock customers into a private section of
the application where there is absolutely NO access to the main section of the application. This
means customers will only be allowed to see shipments they booked or they are being billed on.
Customers will NOT have the ability to see any shipment costs.
Sales
This level should be set for all sales reps. This role will only allow the user to view shipments
and customers attached to this user. This means the user will have to be set to earn a commission
for the customers' shipments. Sales reps are able to see and change the cost and billed amount for
shipments. Sales reps can not see commissions. After an invoice is created the billed amount and
cost can no longer be changed.
Sales Manager
This level should be set for sales managers. This role has all the rights of the sales role and
also has the ability to see other Staff members.
Operations
This level should be set for all operations staff. This role will allow the user to view all
customers and all shipments in the system. Commissions are not visible. After an invoice has been
created the billed amount and cost can no longer be changed.
Operations Manager
This level is an extension of operations with all the same access. Additionally this role is allowed
to Add and Manage carriers and accessorial charges.
Accounting
This level should be set for users who work in AR, AP or collections. Accounting staff can not see
commissions. After an invoice has been created the billed amount can no longer be changed.
Accounting Manager
This level should be set for users who work with commissions and can change the cost of shipments
after they have been invoiced. This role has full access to all financial data.
Admin
This level of access has full access to all sections of the site. This should only be set for a
select few users. Admin is the only access level that can add new customers.
