Tariff Module
Overview
A Tariff is a set of information
and rules that are used to generate shipping costs or service availability. The
tariff includes information such as FAK, lane availability equipment types and
pricing. Once a tariff is created it can be linked to one or more carriers
and/or customers.
A tariff is created independently
of a carrier and/or customer. Once it has been created the tariff can be linked
to one or more customers, carriers or both. The way the tariff is linked depends
on the desired result.
Detailed Instructions
For more information click on the links below.
Quick Start - Creating a Simple Carrier Tariff
To create a tariff under a specific carrier, you must be in their profile. From
here click on the link "Edit Tariff List." From here, you
may select the Base Rate, Discount, and
Minimum Charge to create a new tariff. Next, click on
"Create Tariff." Your new tariff will now be displayed in the list above.
Quick Start - Creating a Simple Customer Tariff
There are two ways to quickly add
new tariffs to a customer and/or a carrier. Either way the function will create
a standard tariff and link it to the selected customer or carrier. After the new
tariff has been created it can be modified just like any other tariff.
The create Tariff function is available from the customer profile page. Click create tariff
and a screen with three options will be available. You can use this page to create a simple
cost plus tariff, a simple discounted tariff or a custom tariff. For each of the options
follow the instructions on the bottom of the tariff creation page.
Create Cost Plus Tariff
The Cost Plus function is only
available from the customer tariff list. This function will create and link the
new tariff that will be based on the cost from a single carrier. For more
information on how the cost plus generates rates please refer to the addition
charge section in the
Tariff Profile instructions.
To create a tariff using this
function go to the "Pricing and Tariff List" from the Customer Profile. From
here click on "Create New Tariff".
At the left of the page, you will need to select "Cost Plus Tariff" from
"Select Tariff Type". Once the Box
has Populated with the field for a Cost Plus tariff, you will need to select the
Carrier Tariff you wish to use as a base. Then enter the mark up in the
"Additional Charge" field. This can be either a percentage or a flat dollar
amount. If percentage enter the amount in decimal format (ex; 20% = .20). You
can also enter a "Minimum Addition" and a "Maximum Addition". Twenty percent of
a load might not always make up your cost for the load. Therefore if you need to
always make sure your company makes a certain amount you enter this amount in
the Min addition field, and the system will always generate and use the higher
amount. If you want to cap the total amount made off a load you can enter the
highest amount to mark up a load in the "Max:" Lastly, select the "Create
Tariff" button to finish.
