Service Areas
Service Areas represent the lanes
that define a tariff. A service area is comprised of an origin, destination,
criteria and rate. When processing a tariff each service area is checked based
on origin, destination and criteria. The Service Areas are read in order from
top to bottom By the LCR engine. Once a service area matches the load
informational other Service Areas will be ignored. The first matching Service
Area provides the rate for the load. If no service areas are specified, the
default rule will be applied. The default rule specified that no service is
available.
Origin and Destination
The origin and destination represent geographical locations.
All: All locations will be matched
State: The state selected will be matched.
Region: The location must be within the region specified.
Zip Code: The location must exactly
match the first zip code or be within the zip code range.
Intrastate: The Shipment origin and
destination must be within the same state and the state must be in the region
specified.
Criteria
The criteria section will check
the shipment and commodities to make sure they are within the specified
criteria. A match type set to ALL will match all the selected criteria. A match
type of ANY will match Any one of the criteria.
Weight: The total shipment weight must be in this range.
Cube: The total cube of the shipment must be in the range.
Dim Weight: The total dim weight must be in the range.
Linear Feet: The total Linear Feet must be in the range.
Pallets: The total number of pallets must be in the range.
Pieces: The total number of pieces must be in the range.
Rate
The rate section is used to
generate the shipment cost once the service area has been matched.
Service Provided: Determines if the lane can be used for this shipment.
Cost Basis: Specifies how the system
will generate the shipment cost. If no price should be generated this should be
left as Flat Dollar.
- Cubic Foot / Meter - The price will be generated based on the cubic foot.
- CWT - The price will be generated based on the Cost per hundred weight.
- Dim Weight - The price will be generated based on the Dim Weight.
- Flat Dollar - The price will be generated based on a flat dollar amount.
- Linear Foot - The price will be generated based on linear feet.
- Mile - The price will be generated based on the number of miles.
- Pallets - The price will be generated based on the number of pallets.
- Pieces - The price will be generated based on the number of pieces.
- Base Rate - The price will be generated based on a specific external Base Rate.
This includes Rateware Data modules or other Defined Rating modules.
Amount / Discount:
This is the dollar amount used as the multiplier from above or as the discount
for the Base Rate used. For example: A 12 foot shipment with a rate or $1.5 per
Linear Foot would calculate to $18 (12 x 1.5 = 18)
Indirect Orig Disc / Ind Dest: These values are only used
with an external Base Rate. This amount replaces the Amount / Discount when the
current lane is marked as indirect.
Min Charge: If the Amount from above
calculates to a lower amount than the min charge the min charge will be replaced
for the charges.
Ind Min:
This applies only with an external Base Rate. This value will replace the
charges when the lane is marked as an indirect location.
Max Charge: If the Amount above
calculates to a greater value than set here the charges will be changed to the
Max charge value. If this value is set to 0 it will NOT be applied.
Transit Time:
This is the transit time in days for this lane. If this value is zero it will
not be applied.
Base Rate: This is a list of external
Base Rates. These modules may contain any type of tariff data but are primarily
used for LTL shipments.
Service Provided:
This is the definitive on the service for the above criteria and origin and
destination. If the "Service Provided" is set to "No", and if the load
information matches the information above in the same service area, the LCR
engine will read this and stop reading the tariff. You can set this field to one
of the following; Yes, Yes (Direct and Indirect), Yes (Direct Only), and No.
These selections (Yes (Direct Only), Yes
(Indirect and Indirect)) Will allow you to set discounts and minimums based off
Carrier Connect Data, on the Carriers Service Area.
